The Arc of Buncombe County exists to empower persons with intellectual/ developmental disabilities to realize their highest potential through advocacy, family support, case management, education, & development of programs.
A United Way participating agency, The Arc of Buncombe County was founded in 1957.
INCLUSION... at work, at school, in recreation.
ADVOCACY... equal access, quality funding, protection of rights.
INDIVIDUAL ASSISTANCE... personal health needs, short term emergency financial assistance, other immediate needs.
PREVENTION... coordination with other agencies to promote education, promote awareness of environmental & medical issues, protection of rights.
